Workshops for women and girls

foRwards is pleased to announce upcoming R workshops in Melbourne and Auckland. We thank the R Consortium for funding these workshops.

Girls workshops

  • Melbourne, Oct 28 Kathleen Symes Library 10-4, lunch provided. This is aimed for Year 11 girls who are interested in STEM, coding and data analysis. Girls will learn to code a web app providing an interface for plotting and summarising data, using R. Participation is limited to 18. Girls will be awarded a certificate of completion at the end of the workshop. Apply to attend
  • Auckland, Dec 8, Auckland University. This is aimed for Year 12 girls who are interested in STEM, coding and data analysis. Girls will learn to code a web app providing an interface for plotting and summarising data, using R. Participation is limited to 20. Girls will be awarded a certificate of completion at the end of the workshop. Participation is by high school teacher recommendation. Apply to attend.

Women’s workshops

Learn how to make your code into an R package, do collaborative coding with github, submit your package to CRAN, write a vignette or article for the R Journal, and build a web page for your package. This workshop is for women who have done some R coding and are ready to take the next step in providing it to others to use. Bring your own code, or work with our example.
